Software Engineer (Python/Java/AWS)

Job description


We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our mobile app team at zooplus, Europe’s leading e-tailer for pet food and pet supplies. With an annual double-digit growth rate, we have already successfully rolled out our business model in 30 European countries and we are expecting further sustainable growth in European e-commerce. Together with our international team you will design, build and shape the services that power the mobile apps for Android and iOS. Our mission is to provide the best experience possible when shopping for our furry friends, and together we want to take this to the next level!

Technologies we use 

In the end it is all about choosing the right tool for the job, but here is the current tech stack we are focusing at 

  • Python and Flask 
  • Java
  • Amazon Web Services and cloud deployments (Terraform, cli, Serverless...) 
  • REST API and WSGI 
  • CI/CD with Jenkins pipeline 
  • Grafana, Kibana, Sensu 
  • Mesos, Docker, Marathon 

Your day to day:

  • Monitor services to identify and respond to issues quickly 
  • Identify and provide solutions for existing and upcoming products/features 
  • Write clean and maintainable code 
  • Code reviews
  • Coffee, tea and nice chats


  • Degree in software engineering or proven experience 
  • Proficient in Python and Java 
  • Excellent communication skills: as the mobile apps aggregate features and services from teams all across zooplus, collaboration and sharing is key 
  • Self-starter and detail oriented. You can complete projects with minimal supervision
  • Fluent in English 

Nice to have 

  • Experience working with mobile apps 
  • Experience working with Java/Spring
